On Vacation

Sorry to disappoint all five readers of this blog, but I'll be on vacation until next Monday. There should be a lot more to write about since not everyone has reported earnings yet. Until then....

Small Cap Play: Iteris

Iteris has been featured here before and today I ran across a new article on the company. The company has been growing and reports earnings tomorrow.

Small Cap Play: The Female Health Company

I came across The Female Health Company, the makers of the "female condom." I could only find one article on the company. This appears to be a small cap that is on the rise and may potentially be a buy-out candidate, but could pose a risk since they are only a "one trick pony."

On Cemex

Zacks says that Cemex is a sell today, but readers of the Fool know that they are bullish on the stock. It is a Stock Advisor and Global Gains recommendation. The Fool also owns shares of the stock.

With a P/E of under 7, there is no doubt that this stock is cheap on a valuation basis, however, this is one of those stocks that may not recover until the housing market recovers, just like Home Depot.

Natus Medical Featured Again at Small Cap Investor

Nautus Medical (BABY) has been featured a second time at smallcapinvestor.com. From the article:

"In line with its technical breakout, Fasciocco reports that BABY recently upgraded its earnings outlook for the year. The Street, he says, now looks for profits to soar 48% to $0.69 a share from $0.47 a year ago. The stock also sells with a P/E ratio of 31, he says. Next year, analysts expect a 27% gain in net to $0.88 a share."

Insiders and institutions have been buying as well.

Garmin A Cheap Buy

Zacks has an article on Gamin, where they call the stock cheap and claim that it is well positioned against other players in the GPS market.

On Terex

During my usual reading today, I came across three articles on Terex (TEX). The first one is at Seeking Alpha which claims that the stock is a bargain under $50. From the article:

"Give it a PE of 10, it’d be a bargain at $70. Or, by discounting cash flows, it’s easy to make a case for a $90 stock. But no, this one could have been purchased all day long today, at $50."

Then, the Fool has two articles, here and here that briefly mention the company. Most importantly, each articles discloses that the Fool owns shares of the company.

Two independent entities believe the company is undervalued. It may be time to pull the trigger on this one.

Logitech is Cheap

The Fool agrees with Zacks. Logitech is cheap.

The Fool In Love with Bed Bath and Beyond

In an article that mentions Bed Bath and Beyond (BBBY), the Fool discloses that it is a Stock Advisor, Inside Value Recommendation, and The Fool owns shares of the stock. The stock may appear cheap on a valuation basis, but I would think that fragrant soaps and lotions may be one of the things that gets cut as households tighten their belts.

This may be a value play, but the stock may not recover until the economy does.

Hold PetMed Express to $15

Zacks has an article on PetMed express saying that although there appears to be many growth opportunities for the company, the cite high industry competition the reason to hold shares. They give the stock a $15 price target.

The Case for VmWare

Stockpickr has an article on VmWare claiming that "The dip into the $30s creates a buying opportunity that won’t happen again."

The two biggest points of the article for me are:

1. 42% growth and a forward P/E of just 28 is cheap.

2. International revenues grew 68% last quarter. This is going to be the growth story for Vmware.

Buffalo Wild Wings Featured at Small Cap Investor

SmallCapInvestor has an interview with Mary Lisanti, a 28 year veteran of small cap growth research and investing, where she talks about her favorite small cap stocks (registration required to read the entire article). Buffalo Wild Wings is one of the stocks mentioned in the interview.

From the article: "Buffalo Wild Wings right now sells at $1.35/$1.40. Next year it’s expected to earn $1.65 to $1.70 — so about 24% growth. The stock is about $32 and if this is going to be a 25% grower through the recession, this stock will probably go to $45. "

Nautus Medical Featured at Small Cap Investor

SmallCapInvestor.com has an interview with Mary Lisanti, a 28 year veteran of small cap growth research and investing (registration required to see the entire article). One of the stocks that she likes is Nautus Medical (BABY). From the article:

"The earnings are $0.65 and $0.85 for 2008 and 2009, respectively, and the stock is about $20. But this should be a $30 to $40 stock in a year."

$73 Price Target on Nucor

Zacks has an article on Nucor, where they give the stock a six month $73 price target. From the article:

"Long-term steel contracts, constant cost-reduction efforts, higher steel prices, lower interest rates, strong cash flow position and a dominant acquisition strategy inspire our optimism with respect to Nucor Corporation's performance in the coming quarters."

Update on Exelixus

The Fool has an update on Exelixus. As disclosed at the end of the article, it is still an active pick of their Rule Breakers service. The Fool also owns shares.

The Fool Owns Shares of Infinera

According to this article, the Motley Fool owns shares of Infinera, which they have also selected as a Rule Breakers Pick.

I'm not familiar with this company, so I did some digging. Seeking Alpha has a short article on the company that was published in June. Of note the article mentions:

"Infinera's PIC technology may have a 4-5 year lead time over its competitors;"

I found an article at the Fool that was written on the same date. It goes on to say:

"Infinera holds technical and cost advantages over many alternatives, giving it a good moat and solid standing against much larger competitors."

It sounds as if this company has quite a wide moat as well as solid long term growth prospects. I will have to keep an eye on this one.

Acquisition to Drive MIPS

Zacks is out with an article today claiming that the recent acquisition of Chipidea will drive margin growth for MIPS technologies (MIPS). Zacks has a buy rating on the stock and a $6.00 price target.

The stock is currently trading at just under $4.00 a share and has shed over 50% of its value from its 52 week high.

$65 Price Target on Abbott Laboratories

Zacks has an article out today that gives a $65 price target on Abbott Laboratories (ABT). From the article:

"ABT will deliver double-digit EPS growth through the end of 2012, driven by strong sales of the anti-inflammatory for rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis, Humira, and the company's rapidly growing vascular business. Several new drug applications have recently been filed with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which should accelerate sales in the pharmaceutical business."

$15 Price Target on Emergent BioSolutions

SmallCapInvestor has an article on Emergent BioSolutions and gives the stock a $15 price target (registration required to view the entire article). The author does not provide a financial analysis on the company, but talks about the company's anthrax vaccine (BioThrax) and other products that are in Stage II trials such as their typhoid vaccine candidate and hepatitis B vaccine candidate.

Disclosure: I own shares of Emergent? Why? They are a profitable company that sells the only FDA approved anthrax vaccine to the government. They are using those profits to develop other potential blockbuster vaccines. Click here to see my previous coverage of Emergent.

$37 Price Target on Tractor Supply Company

Zacks has a $37 price target on Tractory Supply Company. The stock is trading around $29 today. From the article:

"TSCO shares are down over 45 percent in the last twelve months and over 22 percent year-to-date. This sell-off was due to difficult macro conditions including higher food and energy prices, weak consumer confidence, and declining home prices. Put simply, consumers have fewer dollars to spend in retail stores."

Sanmina: High Risk, High Reward

Seeking Alpha has an article about Sanmina, saying that the stock is a bargain at current prices. From the article:

"The current stock price is under $1.10 (as of Monday's close) but Sanmina has $1.63 per share in cash. The company trades at a mere 0.07 price to sales with a $2.18 per share book value. It is no wonder that institutions own 83% of the float. Furthermore, insiders bought in February on the open market at $1.64 & $1.68 per share. Furthermore Institution Earnest Partners has increased its stake from 26MM to 35MM per SEC filing 7/10/2008."

Keep an Eye on Limited Brands

The Stock Masters has an article on Limited Brands, owner of Victoria's Secret and Bath and Body Works. Although the stock is near its 52 week low, they argue that there is still room for the stock to fall.

If you want to pick up shares, the stock will also pay a 4.00% dividend yield while you wait for it to go up.

Insider Buying at Sigma Designs

The Fool has an article which notes that significant insider buying took place last week with Sigma Designs shares. From the article:

"Management was willing to issue more equity at $46 some months ago, and that is usually a sign of where it considers the stock to be fully valued.""

The Fool notes in the disclaimer that Sigma Designs is a Rule Breakers and Hidden Gems Paydirt recommendation.

$27 Price Target on El Paso

Zacks has an article on El Paso Corp, which they give a $27 price target. From the article:

"El Paso's onshore future looks solid. With an average production weighted reserve to production ratio of 10 years, the company should be able to maintain high single-digit growth rates into the next decade. The E&P is forecasted to grow production between 8%-12% over the next three to four years. This, coupled with favorable oil and gas prices, should lead to higher margins and earnings growth and will offer investors continued strength in the near term."
